Bazman

Volcano number: 232030
Region: Middle East and Indian Ocean
Country: Iran
Geodetic measurements? Yes
Deformation observation? Yes
Measurement method(s): InSAR
Duration of observation: 2003 to 2010
Inferred cause of deformation: Magmatic
Characteristics of deformation:

Shirzaei et al. (2012) present Envisat radar InSAR images from 2003 through 2010 at all Iranian volcanoes, using multitemporal interferometric analysis.
The authors show surface deformation at both “Taftan and Bazman volcanos associated with different episodes of uplift and subsidence. The inverse model simulations suggest that the time-dependent inflations and deflations of extended and spherical pressurized magma chambers are responsible for the surface displacements at these volcanoes”.
